    While the repetition and lack of content cooled my enthusiasm a bit, I am excited to see where DICE can take Battlefield 2042 from here — if current industry trends hold, I’m confident this will be a strong addition to my already-full shooter rotation after a few months of additions and updates.

    Battlefield 2042 feels like it could become a cool game, but it’s tantalizingly out of reach today. There’s enough promise with the satisfying-when-it-works gunplay, large-scale chaos (that’s starting to feel more controlled over time), and fantastic legacy Battlefield content in Portal that I’ll stick around for a bit. It didn’t have to be this way, though.

    Battlefield 2042 is disjointed and incomplete at launch, but it's impossible to deny it still has that magic spark that made past entries thrive. There aren't enough maps and one too many bugs and glitches get in the way of the fun. However, with the excellent Portal mode to bolster it, Battlefield 2042 does just enough to get us on board. While we wish so many things were better, nothing else does it quite like Battlefield.

    Battlefield 2042 is technically an unfinished game that just has dozens of problems on both visual and technical levels. It poses some questionable gameplay changes, some good, some bad, but it still presents itself as a dash of fresh air with great modes like Portal and Hazard Zone. Sadly, it has so many problems on mentioned levels, with really disappointing “bloom” during shooting, that it poses itself as a pretty bad experience overall and it is really hard to recommend to anyone until it gets patched or gets additional content in the future.

Visually the game looks stunning, but the awful map design, awful specialists system and lack of content such as weapons and maps make this BF feels rushed and imcomplete.     I am very disappointed. Not only is the game buggy and seemingly very far from finished but there is also a lot of gameplay decisions I canI am very disappointed. Ranging from specialists over weapon spread both on guns as well as the vehicle's guns such as the nightbird's miniguns or the tank's mgs to vehicle flight mechanics. Everything just seems like a step back. There are many things older Battlefield games did better than 2042 which is weird considering they had so much feedback and knew what works and what doesn't. It is apparent that the game was (at least partly) designed around the concept of trying to sell as many microtransactions as possible, even if that meant sacrificing the gameplay. I do not like the way Battlefield is headed and I honestly hope they can turn this around. I always thought "I'm a Battlefield fan, it can't be that bad" and blindly pre-ordered the ultimate edition despite all the negative feedback from YouTubers and other internet personas I knew very well have been playing Battlefield for ages. But now I know: ESPECIALLY if you're a Battlefield fan, hold back with buying the game. Try testing it out first, there are many options. In its current state I do not think 2042 is worth the money; I also think Bf4 still is the better game. Please be very careful when thinking about buying this Battlefield game!… Expand

There needs to be a lawsuit or something, these companies are putting out dispicable pieces of **** and laughing their way to the bank. If i could give lower than a 0 i would. Soulless game with none of the normal Battlefield features. No new ones that are any good to justify not having the old ones. Trying to set the game up to be a cash grab instead of just making a good game. I hope something happens that forces EA to change their ways, because they are ruining gaming.… Expand

This game is so far removed from battlefield it is a joke. I feel sorry for anyone who is experiencing this as their first battlefield. Where are all the guns for a start? BF3 had over 50 weapons. Each weapon felt unique and had strengths and weaknesses against others. Teamwork was a thing with classes that had a role on the battlefield. Maps were fantastic and buildings could be destroyed. Vehicles were balanced. Scoreboards and voice chat were a thing. It’s as if a completely new group of developers are making their first game here. The bugs are everywhere. The sound… holy … Bad company 2 sound was a masterpiece… this sound… absolute mess. I am shocked that anyone can give this game anything higher than a 1 (portal not included) It’s not Battlefield.… Expand
