This title is arguably the best-looking game on the Switch and captures the magic of the original all over again. Metroid Prime Remastered reminded the world why people consider this one of the greatest games ever made.

Metroid Prime Remastered is an example of how a remaster should be done. There were no real changes to gameplay, visuals or anything like that. Just some minor improvements, such as added control schemes, to help modernize it a bit. Aside from some lengthy load times when you’re initially getting into the game or loading a save, the game really has no faults. It’s designed to encourage exploration and experimentation, but if you get lost, you’ll be nudged in the direction you need to go eventually. There are ample amounts of lore in the game, giving plenty of nods to past Metroid games. While it would have been better if the entire Metroid Prime trilogy was included here, I won’t complain too much as long as the next two games arrive remastered prior to Metroid Prime 4.

There are few games that command the title of Masterpiece. Without any doubt whatsoever, Metroid Prime Remastered is fully deserving of this moniker. The fact that minimal changes had to be made to a game that is 21 years old is a true testament of the original game design, gameplay loop and art direction. The icing on the cake for Metroid Prime Remastered is obviously the enhanced visuals and a control scheme that is far more fitting for the modern era. The Nintendo GameCube version may now lay to rest, as Metroid Prime Remastered is the definitive method to play this outstanding masterpiece.

Metroid Prime Remastered is a perfect example of how we should deal with classic games to remaster. Almost every aspect of the game including visual, control and convenience have been improved. The only drawback of this surprise present for those who long awaited Metroid Prime 4 is that now they are going to need much patient for the 2nd and 3rd title to be remastered.

Metroid Prime Remastered is not only an amazing upgrade to the original game but also one of the nicest-looking titles on the Switch platform. An experience that not only aged greatly when it comes to its gameplay but also one that shines with new life through a modernized control scheme. If you ever wanted to play a Metroid Prime game, there is no doubt that this is its definitive edition.

Metroid Prime was, and still is, one of the best games published during this century. The visuals of this Remastered are just amazing: this is how Metroid Prime looked like in our memories, not in reality.

Metroid Prime Remastered is a faithful beat-for-beat recreation of the GameCube classic with a comprehensively polished visual makeover. It remains a solid adventure shooter, even if its straightforward approach to player progress is a little unexciting these days. I’ve certainly not hated my time with it, though I do hate its refusal to properly credit the team that worked on the original...Maybe it’s the industry’s attitude toward attribution that could use a remastering.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

    Colour me impressed.
In comparison with the lackluster "remaster/HD/deluxe" editions like skyward sword, pikmin 3, mario kart 8, this feels like a remake. The game looks like Prime always did in my memories.
This level of care, love and effort is rare to see in the gaming dev atmosphere nowadays. Retro studios really put all the work into making this version the MUST GO to play this masterpiece

Truthfully, all the game needed was a visual overhaul and new controls, and that's exactly what this brings. It's no less than one of the best remasters or even remakes of all time, for one of the greatest FPS games ever created. A must-buy for any Metroid fan or Switch owner. Expand

The greedy developers are charging $40 for this poor excuse of a remaster. For that ridiculous price, I expect a remake or extra game modes. This game has none of that. The gameplay is extremely outdated. The graphics have this weird mix of old and new graphics, it reminds me of that garbage GTA Trilogy remaster. To make matters worse, this game has very outdated PS2-quality lighting. All the lazy developers did was re-texture/upscale the game and called it a day. All these outdated mechanics makes me want to snap my Switch in half.

There is no multiplayer. So once you beat the campaign, there is literally not a reason to play this game again. Charging $40 for a game with no replay value is a cash grab. I'm shocked greedy Nintendo didn't charge $60 for this remaster. They are the same company that had Diamond and Pearl remake for an outrageous price of $120. Even when Nintendo tries to be generous, they're still greedy and lazy. I don't recommend this game at all, unless you want to support laziness.
